Kim, who finished tied for second in ADT points for the second half of the season, made bogeys on the first and 18th holes, with five birdies in between. Korean LPGA player Shin, who won the RICOH Women’s British Open, made three birdies on the front nine and traded bogey for birdie twice on the back.

Tied for fourth place are rookie Na Yeon Choi, Eun-Hee Ji and Ji Young Oh, who all shot two-under par. Paula Creamer, Christina Kim and Karen Stupples are tied for seventh place at one-under par.

Lorena Ochoa shot 75, three-over par, and Annika Sorenstam was one better with a round of 74.

The LPGA Tour sends the 2008 season off with the ADT Championship this week at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The LPGA season is split into two halves with the top 15 players from each half, plus two alternates, qualify to play in the $1 million event. Players earn points, much like the FedEx Cup on the PGA, based on their finish in each tournament.

The format for the ADT Championship has the 32 players play two rounds. The top 15 players after 36 holes play a third round followed by another cut, dwindling the field to eight players. The final round is a shootout where the previous rounds scores are erased and the best score wins.

The top headline for the 2008 event is Annika Sorenstam, who is finishing up her last season on Tour. One of the best women’s golfers in history wants to leave the game with one last win but she will have to get by the defending champion, and top ranked golfer, Lorena Ochoa and other multiple winners Paula Creamer, Angela Stanford, Helen Alfredsson and Seon Hwa Lee. Also looking to make their mark are top rookies Yani Tseng and Na Yeon Choi.

Last year, Ochoa completed her terrific 2007 season by besting Natalie Gulbis by two shots. In 2007, Ochoa had eight wins and 21 top 10 finishes in 25 events. She took over the number one ranking from Sorenstam in April of 2007 and won her first major tournament at the RICOH Women’s British Open on the Old Course at St. Andrews. She finished the season by taking home a second straight Rolex Player of the Year award, Vare Trophy (lowest scoring average for season) and finished on top of the LPGA money list.

Angela Stanford recorded her second win of the 2008 LPGA Tour season with her victory at the inaugural Lorena Ochoa Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club in Mexico.

Stanford is enjoying a great season with both wins coming in the last five events. She earlier won at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in September and has not finished outside of the top five since. In her last four events, she has a third place finish at the Samsung World Championship, second place at the Longs Drugs Challenge and a fourth place at the Kapalua LPGA Classic.

For the 2008 season, Stanford has nine top 10 finishes and has only missed four cuts in 26 events played.

Last season, Stanford had 12 top 10 finishes in 24 tournaments and finished with a 2-0-1 record for the U. S. Solheim Cup team. She finished tied for third at the MasterCard Classic and, a couple of weeks later, finished tied for 10th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Her other top finishes for the 2007 season were at the Michelob ULTRA Open (t-10), HSBC Women’s World Match Play Championship (t-9), Evian Masters (t-6), CN Canadian Women’s Open (t-10), and the Samsung World Championship (9). Her other notable finishes were at the SemGroup Championship (t-3), Ginn Tribute Hosted by ANNIKA (t-7), Wegmans LPGA (7), Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic (t-7) and the Navistar LPGA Classic (t-7).

Stanford joined the LPGA in 2001 after playing one year on the Futures Tour, where she won the Futures Tour Championship. She tied for fourth place at the 2000 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2001 season.

She won for the first time in 2003 at the Shop-Rite LPGA Classic and then finished in second place at the U. S. Women’s Open, losing in a three-way playoff. She also played on her first Solheim Cup team this year.

Ji-Yai Shin won the Mizuno Classic for her second LPGA title of the 2008 season…and she isn’t even a member of the Tour. Playing on the LPGA of Korea, Shin is the top golfer this season. Her other victory on the LPGA was at the RICOH Women’s British Open this year for her first major championship win.

Her rookie season on the KLPGA was in 2006, where she won the Korean Women’s Open and finished the year with 12 top five finishes and broke Se Ri Pak’s record for money earned in a season, a record that stood for 10 years.

Her sophomore season proved more of the same as Shin became the first KLPGA golfer to win six times in a season. In 2007, Shin also played in LPGA events for the first time with a 15th place finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, a sixth place finish at the U. S. Women’s Open and a third place finish at the Evian Masters.

Davis Love III won the final event of the 2008 PGA Tour season at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic for his 20th career win, giving him a lifetime exemption to the PGA Tour.

Love has had a good 2008 season with seven top 25 finished in 16 events that he made the cut. Of the seven top finishes, three were top 10s, including a tie for third at the Turning Stone Resort Championship and a tie for sixth at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Love’s 2007 season was cut short by injury after he tore tendons in his left ankle when he stepped in a hole playing golf at home. His best finishes that season came at the Mercedes-Benz Championship (t-4), AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (t-4) and at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational (t-6).

Love last hoisted a trophy in 2006 at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro. Of his 20 career victories, Love won the PGA Championship in 1997 for his only major title. He has also won THE PLAYERS Championship twice, in 1992 and 2003. Other multiple tournament wins came at the MCI Heritage Golf Classic (1987, 1991, 1992, 2003) and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (2001, 2003).
