Tiger Woods shot 68 in the second round of THE TOUR Championship at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta, Georgia to lead the final PGA TOUR Playoff event by one shot over Padraig Harrington and Sean O’Hair.
Woods, who leads the FedEx Cup points race, started the day with four pars before carding his first bogey on the fifth hole. He closed out the front nine with three consecutive birdies on the seventh, eighth and ninth holes. Woods made a birdie on the 15th hole before finishing the round with a bogey on the 18th hole.
O’Hair, who lead at the start of the round, shot an even-par, 70, to fall into a tie with Harrington for second place. O’Hair made bogeys on the seventh and 11th holes before back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes pulled him back. Harrington was one-under par in the second round. He made three birdies and two bogeys to stay within a shot of the lead.
Ernie Els moved into contention with a four-under, 66, climbing from 16th place to fourth. Kenny Perry and Jerry Kelly are tied for fifth place at two-under par. Stewart Cink slipped into a tie for seventh place with a one-over par, 71. He is tied with Angel Cabrera, Jason Dufner, Nick Watney and Lucas Glover.
