Sean O’Hair got the final FedEx Cup event off to a great start shooting 66 in the opening round of THE TOUR Championship at East Lake Country Club to hold a one-shot lead over Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington and Stewart Cink.
O’Hair started with consecutive birdies on the third and fourth holes, adding birdies on the seventh and ninth holes to go out at four-under par. After a birdie on the 12th hole, O’Hair made a bogey on the 13th. He got the shot back on 14 with a birdie but made bogey on the 17th hole to finish the day at four-under par.
Woods, Harrington and Cink shot 67s in the opening round at East Lake, which recovered from record rain fall the past week. Woods made five birdies and two bogeys in the first round. Harrington and Cink were both four-under par through nine holes. Harrington made one bogey on the back nine while Cink carded two bogeys and a birdie.
Lucas Glover shot 68 to sit in fifth place, three shots behind O’Hair. Steve Marino, Retief Goosen and Dustin Johnson are tied for sixth place. Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson, Scott Verplank, Nick Watney, Luke Donald, John Senden and Marc Leishman are tied for ninth place at even-par.
