Tiger Woods stretched his lead in the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club to four shots over five players, including Padraig Harrington and Vijay Singh, after firing a three-under par, 69, in the second round.
Woods started the day with a bogey on the first hole but got the shot back with consecutive birdies on the sixth and seventh holes. After a bogey on the 10th hole, Woods rebounded with three straight birdies on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.
Harrington shot a one-over par, 73, in the second round, hurt by three straight bogeys on the back nine from the 11th to 13th holes. Singh was even-par on the day, matching three birdies with three bogeys. Also tied for second place at three-under par are U. S. Open champion Lucas Glover, Brendan James and Ross Fisher, who climbed 42 spots with a round of 68.
A double-bogey on the par-3, 17th hole dropped Lee Westwood into a tie for seventh place with Ian Poulter, who shot a two-under par, 70, in the second round. Ernie Els jumped 86 spots with a four-under par 68 and is tied for ninth place with Martin Kaymer, Y. E. Yang and Soren Kjeldsen.
