Pak, Lee lead LPGA State Farm Classic

stfmclassic-logoSe Ri Pak and Jee Young Lee shot 66s in the opening round of the LPGA State Farm Classic at the Panther Creek Club in Illinois.  The pair lead Kris Tamulis by a shot.

Pak was bogey-free on the first day with six birdies in the round.  She started with birdie and added another on the sixth hole to go out at two-under.  After a birdie on the 10th hole, Pak finished with birdies on three of the final four holes.

Lee started on the 10th hole and, after four pars, made bogey on the 14th hole.  She erased the deficite with three straight birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes.  After the turn, Lee birdied the second, fourth, sixth and ninth holes to grab her share of the lead.

Tamulis shot 67 to hole third place after the first round.  She is one shot better than Suzann Pettersen, Natalie Gulbis and Anja Monke.  There are 29 players tied for seventh place with rounds of 69.  Many of the top players in the world are in that group, including Yani Tseng, Jiyai Shin, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr and In-Kyung Kim.  Also tied for seventh place are  Brittany Lang, Morgan Pressel, Laura Davies, Kristy McPherson and Pat Hurst.
