Lorena Ochoa beat Suzann Pettersen to successfully defend her title at the Corona Championship at the Tres Marias Residential Golf Club.
It was a two person battle all day at Ochoa and Pettersen traded birdies throughout the day. Ochoa had a shot advantage at the start of the round but Pettersen erased that with a birdie on the third hole. Ochoa got the shot back on the next hole and the pair exchanged birdies again on the next two holes. Ochoa went up two shots after a birdie on the eighth hole.
Both players made birdie on the 10th hole but Ochoa gave a shot back after making bogey on the 11th hole. Pettersen tied Ochoa for the lead after a birdie on the 12th hole. Ochoa pulled ahead for good with consecutive birdies at the 15th and 16th holes. Pettersen closed with a birdie on the 18th to finish six shots ahead of Na Yeon Choi, who finished in third.
Wendy Ward grabbed fourth place as Cristie Kerr and Yani Tseng tied for fifth place. Morgan Pressel, Brittany Lang and Seon Hwa Lee tied for seventh place at 15-under par. Rookies Michelle Wie and Vicky Hurst tied for 10th place with final rounds of 69 and 68, respectively.
