Kristy McPherson holds a one-shot lead over Cristie Kerr after three rounds of play at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
McPherson shot a two-under par, 70, on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. She started the day with a birdie on the first hole but made bogeys on the fifth and eighth holes to finish the front one-over par. McPherson caught fire after the turn with birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th holes. She finished the day with six straight pars and a one shot lead.
Kerr also shot 70 in the third round to keep pace with McPherson. Kerr was even through nine holes and finished the day with birdies at the 11th and 17th. In third place, Brittany Lincicome is two shots beind McPherson. She shot 70 in the third round to stay in contention.
Tied for fourth place at four-under par are Lindsey Wright and Jimin Kang. Christina Kim, who held a share of the lead at the start of the day, shot 75 in the third round to fall to sixth place. Three players are tied for seventh place at two-under par, including Katherine Hull, Helen Alfredsson and Meaghan Francella. Pat Hurst rounds out the top 10 at one-under par.
Defending champion Lorena Ochoa is one of a few top players needing a spectacular final round to have a shot at jumping in Poppy’s Pond. Ochoa is tied for 15th place at two-over par, 10 shots back, with Brittany Lang and In-Kyung Kim to name a few. Also needing a great final round are Angela Stanford (even-par), Karrie Webb and Suzann Pettersen, who are tied at one-over par.
