Singh to have knee surgery next week

Vijay Singh will miss at least the next five weeks as he is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee next week.  As he noted in a blog post on PGATOUR.com, the reigning FedEx Cup champion had planned a three week break in his schedule after the Sony Open.  He looks to return to the TOUR for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Singh is playing in this week’s winners-only Mercedes-Benz Championship underway at Kapalua Resort in Hawaii.

I liken Singh’s career to a player who has found his stride in his latter years. And when his game is really on he’s one of the hardest guys on the Tour to beat.
I think that he’ll have a successful season as usual. I don’t think that there was ever any doubt that he’d end up winning the Fedex Cup. tophatal ………………….

Vijay ruined the Cup system last year by doing what you are supposed to do … win! He wins two in a row and everyone cries foul. This year, the playoffs should be better with the changes (see here… http://teeoffpost.com/2009/01/pga-tour-adds-excitement-to-fedex-cup-for-2009/ )
