The PGA TOUR kicks off the 2009 season in Hawaii for the Mercedes-Benz Championship. The field of 33 includes only tournament winners from the 2008 season. The tournament returns to Kapalua, Hawaii and will be played on the Plantation Course, a 7,411-yard par 73 designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore.
Last year, Daniel Chopra took home the first championship of the season, beating Steve Stricker with a 25-foot birdie on the fourth extra hole. He is set to defend his title against some of the best golfers in the world. Former Mercedes champion, and current FedEx Cup champion, Vijay Singh is in Hawaii along with Anthony Kim, Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Kenny Perry, Justin Leonard and Davis Love III.
