Verplank takes charge at Children’s Miracle Network Classic

Scott Verplank shot a second straight 64 to open up a three shot lead at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Verplank’s round was highlighted by a 60-foot eagle putt on the 14th hole and the three straight birdies that followed.  He totaled eight birdies on the day and made two bogeys.  He leads Steve Marino and Troy Matteson, who are tied at 13-under after two rounds.

Matteson, who led after the first round, shot 68 in the second round.  He made six birdies and two bogeys in his round.  Marino didn’t make a bogey as he dropped six birdies in his round of 66.

Robert Gamez, Tag Ridings and Robert Garrigus are tied for fourth place at 12-under par.  Ken Duke, Jason Gore, Kevin Streelman, Tom Pernice, Jr., Bob Estes and Scott Sterling are tied for seventh place after two rounds.
