Scott Verplank made bogey on the last hole of Disney’s Magnolia Course for a round of 69 and a share of the lead with Steve Marino, who shot 66 in the third round, at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic presented by Wal-Mart.
Verplank was bogey-free heading into the final hole. He had made a birdie at the third hole and added three more at the turn on holes eight, nine and 11. Marino started his round with back-to-back birdies and made four more on the eighth, 10th, 13th and 14th holes.
The pair lead Davis Love III and Scott Sterling by two shots. Love shot an eight-under par, 64, in the third round to move up from 19th place. Sterling shot 66 after firing 63 in the second round.
Troy Matteson, Robert Garrigus and Tommy Gainey are tied for fifth at 16-under par. Two shots behind them are Ken Duke, Jason Gore, Tim Petrovic, Bo Van Pelt, Kevin Streelman and Robert Gamez.
