Angela Stanford made two birdies on the back nine at Guadalajara Country Club to finish one shot better than Annika Sorenstam and Brittany Lang at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. It is Stanford’s second victory of the 2008 season.
Stanford didn’t make a bogey in the final round and shot 69 after making birdies on the 10th and 11th holes, as well as one on the sixth, to put her one shot ahead of the field. Sorenstam made a charge on the back nine with three birdies but finished one shot short. Lang shot 65, breaking Stanford’s course record set in the second round, to make a run at the title. She started the day making four birdies in the first five holes, finishing with eight total on the day with one bogey.
Meena Lee ended a good week with a final round 66 to finish tied for fourth with Jeong Jang, Katherine Hull, Sun Young Yoo and Jee Young Lee. In-Kyung Kim finished in ninth place and Teresa Lu grabbed 10th. Cristie Kerr, Hee-Won Han and Seon Hwa Lee tied for 11th place.
Lorena Ochoa finished her event strong, shooting a final round 70 to move into a tie for 14th with Paula Creamer, Ji Young Oh and Nicole Castrale.
