Spotlight: Ji-Yai Shin

Ji-Yai Shin won the Mizuno Classic for her second LPGA title of the 2008 season…and she isn’t even a member of the Tour. Playing on the LPGA of Korea, Shin is the top golfer this season.  Her other victory on the LPGA was at the RICOH Women’s British Open this year for her first major championship win.

Her rookie season on the KLPGA was in 2006, where she won the Korean Women’s Open and finished the year with 12 top five finishes and broke Se Ri Pak’s record for money earned in a season, a record that stood for 10 years.

Her sophomore season proved more of the same as Shin became the first KLPGA golfer to win six times in a season.  In 2007, Shin also played in LPGA events for the first time with a 15th place finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, a sixth place finish at the U. S. Women’s Open and a third place finish at the Evian Masters.
