Spotlight: Davis Love III

Davis Love III won the final event of the 2008 PGA Tour season at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic for his 20th career win, giving him a lifetime exemption to the PGA Tour.

Love has had a good 2008 season with seven top 25 finished in 16 events that he made the cut.  Of the seven top finishes, three were top 10s, including a tie for third at the Turning Stone Resort Championship and a tie for sixth at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Love’s 2007 season was cut short by injury after he tore tendons in his left ankle when he stepped in a hole playing golf at home.  His best finishes that season came at the Mercedes-Benz Championship (t-4), AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (t-4) and at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational (t-6).

Love last hoisted a trophy in 2006 at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro.  Of his 20 career victories, Love won the PGA Championship in 1997 for his only major title.  He has also won THE PLAYERS Championship twice, in 1992 and 2003.  Other multiple tournament wins came at the MCI Heritage Golf Classic (1987, 1991, 1992, 2003) and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (2001, 2003).
