Candie Kung won the Hana Bank, KOLON Championship by a shot for her first win since the 2003 LPGA Tour season and fourth of her career.

Kung has six top 10 finishes in the 2008 season in 26 events.  Her win comes off a ninth place finish the week before at the Grand China Air LPGA.  She was the runner up at the Navistar LPGA Classic a few weeks earlier.  Her other top finishes of the season came at the Ginn Open (t-5), Michelob ULTRA Open (t-7) and the McDonald’s LPGA Championship (t-10).

Last year, Kung played in 15 events, making 11 cuts and withdrawing from one tournament.  Her best finish was 18th, coming twice at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic and CN Canadian Women’s Open.

Kung joined the LPGA Tour in 2002 after competing on the Futures Tour.  She tied for 15th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, earning non-exempt status.  In her rookie season, Kung’s best finish was a tie for fourth at the Weetabix Women’s British Open.

She followed up her rookie season with a three-win sophomore season and crossed the $1 million mark for career earnings.  Her wins came at the LPGA Takefuji Classic, the Wachovia LPGA Classic hosted by Betsy King and the State Farm Classic.
