In what could be a growing trend in a tough economy, ADT has declined to continue as sponsor of the LPGA’s season ending event beyond this year. The ADT Championship, as it has been know since 2001, is the ladies version of the FedEx Cup but with a unique twist. Players are eliminated each round of play, with points erased after two round. It is a great tournament pitting the top players of each half of the LPGA season.
With the LPGA already losing sponsors, will the trend trickle into the PGA Tour as well? Time will tell, especially with television ratings on the decline for the sport in general.
