Vijay Singh is the PGA Tour Playoff champion, hoisting the FedEx Cup after a 22nd place finish at THE TOUR Championship. Singh separated himself with victories in the first two events – The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Singh was having a good year until getting on fire in August. The first two-thirds of the 2008 season yielded five top 10 finishes, including a playoff loss at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and a tied for second at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship. Then, after missing the cut at the British Open, Singh rolled off three wins over five weeks and a $10 million bonus for the FedEx Cup championship.
Singh won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational but then missed his next two cuts at the PGA Championship and Wyndham Championship. He started the playoffs with a win over Sergio Garcia in a playoff at The Barclays and followed that up with another win at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Singh closed out the playoffs with a tie for 44th at the BMW Championship and a 22nd place finish at THE TOUR Championship.
