Spotlight: Vijay Singh

Vijay Singh is the PGA Tour Playoff champion, hoisting the FedEx Cup after a 22nd place finish at THE TOUR Championship.  Singh separated himself with victories in the first two events – The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Singh was having a good year until getting on fire in August.  The first two-thirds of the 2008 season yielded five top 10 finishes, including a playoff loss at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and a tied for second at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.  Then, after missing the cut at the British Open, Singh rolled off three wins over five weeks and a $10 million bonus for the FedEx Cup championship.

Singh won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational but then missed his next two cuts at the PGA Championship and Wyndham Championship.  He started the playoffs with a win over Sergio Garcia in a playoff at The Barclays and followed that up with another win at the Deutsche Bank Championship.  Singh closed out the playoffs with a tie for 44th at the BMW Championship and a 22nd place finish at THE TOUR Championship.

With his strong finish to the 2008 season, Singh moved up to third in the Official World Golf Rankings.
