Anthony Kim continues his tear on the golf course bringing momentum from the Ryder Cup to THE TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Kim shot 64 in the opening round of the final FedEx Cup tournament to take a four shot lead over Phil Mickelson, Trevor Immelman and Ernie Els.
Kim started the day with a bogey but rallied with six birdies over the next 10 holes. After a bogey on the 12th hole, Kim finished with two more birdies on the 15th and 17th holes.
Mickelson, Immelman and Els shot 68s, two-under par. K. J. Choi has fifth place with a one-under par round. Mike Weir and Sergio Garcia are tied for sixth place at even par. Rounding out the top 10 with rounds of 71 are Bubba Watson, D. J. Trahan and Kevin Sutherland.
Eventual FedEx Cup champion Vijay Singh started the day with five bogeys over the first 11 holes before making two birdies on the 14th and 15th holes in route to a round of 73. Singh just has to finish four rounds to with the FedEx Cup.
