Sergio Garcia took charge in the third round of THE TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club and holds a two-shot lead over Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim heading into the final round.
Garcia shot 67 with four birdies and a bogey to take a three shot lead. He started the day three back of Kim, who struggled after hitting a spectator on the head with an errant drive on the ninth hole. Kim was even par for the round at that point and finished with bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes for a round of 72. Mickelson shot a one-under, 69, to move into a tie with Kim. After finishing the front nine at one-under, Mickelson made boges on 10 and 16, with birdies on 12 and 15.
Two shots back of Mickelson and Kim, Camilo Villegas shot 69 in the third round. Ben Curtis (68) is tied with Robert Allenby (67) for fifth place, six shots back of Garcia.
Vijay Singh shot 72 in the third round and is in 24th place. The FedEx Cup points leader needs to finish the final round to win the PGA Playoffs title.
