Vijay Singh sunk a three-foot par putt to win the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational by a shot.  With his first win of the season and 32nd of his career, Singh passes Harry “Lighthorse” Cooper with the most career PGA Tour victories for an international player.

Singh shot 68, two-under par, in the final round and took control of the top spot on the front nine with four birdies in five holes.  He made three bogeys to one birdie between the eighth and 13th holes but held on with a clutch par putt on the final hole.

On the other hand, Phil Mickelson couldn’t get a putt to fall and made bogeys on three of the last four holes to fall to a fourth place finish.

Singh edged out Stuart Appleby and Lee Westwood as the pair finished tied for second, a shot back.  Appleby made birdies on the 11th, 16th and 17th holes to put himself in contention.  Westwood started with two birdies but made a bogey on the fourth and a double-bogey on the seventh to hurt his momentum.  He got some of it back with birdies on the eighth, 11th and 13th holes but a bogey on 14 and pars over the final four holes were not enough.

Peter Lonard and Darren Clarke finished tied for sixthplace.  Paul Casey closed witha 65 in the final round to move into a tie for eighth with D. J. Trahan.  Hunter Mahan and Miguel A. Jimenez finished tied for 10th place.
