The LPGA stays in Europe this week for the final major championship of the season - the RICOH Women’s British Open.  Lorena Ochoa won the championship at St. Andrew’s last season for her first major win and is coming off a top 5 finish at last week’s Evian Masters.

It is hard to argue Ochoa as the favorite as she has won more than anyone this season and has only finished outside the top-10 twice in 13 starts.  Others to watch this week would be Annika Sorenstam, who will be playing her final Open championship, and Paula Creamer, who has won three times this year.  The LPGA is enjoying success from their rookies and Yani Tseng and Na Yeon Choi.  Choi re-took the lead in the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year race with a second place finish at the Evian Masters last week.  Tseng’s season is marked with her first major win at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, presented by Coca-Cola.

This year’s British Open is hosted by Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England.  The Old Course is a par-72, 6,408 yard track that opened in 1901.  It was designed by former Open champion Willie Park and is considered on of the most beloved inland courses in the British Isles.
