Inkster on top at the Women’s British Open

With an eagle on the par-4 ninth hole, Inkster finished the front nine at four-under par and totaled five birdies with the eagle. She leads seven players who shot 66s in the first round. In that group are Momoko Ueda, Laura Diaz, Ji Young Oh, Stacy Prammanasudh, Yuri Fudoh, Ji-Yai Shin and Johanna Head.
Annika Sorenstam, playing in her last major tournament, started with an even-par, 72, to sit tied for 66th place. She has good company as Paula Creamer is right with her after the first day. Defending champion Lorena Ochoa shot a two-under, 69, but was hurt by bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes.
Rounding out the top 10 are Kristie McPherson, Karen Stupples, Sherri Steinhauer and Rebecca Hudson. The group shot 67 in the first round and are tied for ninth place, two shots back.
