British Open thoughts…
Jul 17th, 2008 | By TeeOff | Category: Golf, OpinionThe British Open has begun across the pond with Sergio Garcia being the odds-makers pick. Phil Mickelson is the top ranked player in the field but never seems to do well in the links style of play. Ernie Els is the pick of the week here as he has gone through a golf makeover with a new coach and swing thought. He thrives on the other side of the Atlantic and should be right there come Sunday.
Who to look out for as a surprise this year? Try Davis Love III, who made the Open through a 36-hole qualifier. Hunter Mahan is another that could make some noise this week as he is playing great golf since the U. S. Open. A European to look for is Martin Kaymer, who is playing in his first Open and is one of the European Tour’s brightest stars.
