Having made it know that his season goal is to make the Ryder Cup team and play for his country in his home state of Kentucky, Kenny Perry is the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour right now. He just claimed his first win of the season with a final round of 69 at the Memorial Tournament, where he has now won three times.
The win caps off a string of six straight tournaments where Perry has come close to two other victories. He was at the top of the THE PLAYERS Championship heading into the final round but, an 81 on Sunday dropped him to 15th place. The next week at the AT&T Classic, Perry finished second to Ryuji Imada in a playoff. For the season, Perry has played in 15 events, making 14 cuts. He has the win, a runner-up and third place finish, totaling seven top 25 finishes. He is currently ranked fourth in the FedEx Cup standings.
His last win came in 2005 when he claimed victory twice. He won at the Bank of America Colonial and Franklin Templeton Shootout, an unofficial event.
