Spotlight: Justin Leonard

Justin Leonard claimed his first victory of the 2008 PGA Tour season at the Stanford St. Jude Championship, beating Trevor Immelman and Robert Allenby on the second hole of a sudden death playoff.

Having a successful 2008, Leonard has only missed one cut in 15 events and recorded five top 10 finishes.  He was the runner-up at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and finished fifth the following week at the Buick Invitational.  He also finished fourth at the World Golf Championship-Accenture Match Play Championship, losing to Henrik Stenson in the consolation match.

He has won a total of 12 times over his 14 year career, including the 1997 British Open.  He has won some of the biggest events on Tour, including THE PLAYERS Championship (1998), the Buick Open (1996), The Honda Classic (2003) and the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (2005).  He has won three times in his home state of Texas, including the Westin Texas Open (2000), Texas Open as La Cantera (2001) adn the Valero Texas Open (2007).  Leonard’s other victories were at the 1997 Kemper Open, the Worldcom Classic (2002) and the FedEx St. Jude Classic (2005).
