Play suspended at U. S. Women’s Open

Angela Park finished her day on top of the leaderboard and holds a one-shot lead over Minea Blomqvist, Inbee Park and Helen Alfredsson at the LPGA’s third major.
Park started her round on the back and made three birdies on holes 12, 13 and 15. After the turn, she eagled the par-5 second hole and made two more birdies, along with a bogey, on the side.
Also in contention, defending champion Cristie Kerr is tied for fifth at four-under par with Paula Creamer, Jeong Jang and Candie Kung.
The Tour’s top two players are lurking as Lorena Ochoa is at one-over par, tied for 35th, for the tournament after rounds of 73 and 74. Annika Sorenstam improved from her disappointing first round score by five shots after carding a three-under, 70, to move up to 22nd place, one-under for the tournament.
