Inbee Park shot a two-under par, 71, to win the U. S. Women’s Open by four shots for her first victory on the LPGA Tour.

Park shot under par when many on the top of the leaderboard were over.  She was near the top all week and took control at the best time to take home the third major or the LPGA season.  Park started the day with two straight birdies but added two bogeys on the sixth and eighth holes to finish the front nine even par.  Three birdies and a bogey on the back put her out of reach.

Finishing second was Helen Alfredsson, who shot a two-over par, 75.  After a birdie on the second hole, she made three straigh bogeys and added another to finish the side at four-over.  Two bogeys, an eagle and a birdie on the final hole gave her sole posession of second place.

Paula Creamer was in the final group but shot a five-over, 78, to finish tied for sixth with Mi Hyun Kim, Nicole Castrale and Giulia Sergas.  Suzann Pettersen was two-under on the day and moved up to a tie for 13th with defending champion Cristie Kerr, Jee Young Lee and Momoko Ueda.  Annika Sorenstam shot 78 to drop to a tie for 24th.  Lorena Ochoa didn’t fare well in this major, finishing tied for 31st at five-over par for the tournament.
