Michelle Wie posts top 10 in Europe

Michelle Wie finished her best tournament in a few years with a sixth place finish, seven shots back, of winner Amy Yang, another 18-year-old who nabs her first win as a professional and second on the Ladies European Tour.

Yes, first pro win and second on a pro tour. Yang made news a couple of years ago when she won the ANZ Ladies Masters in Australia as a 16-year-old amateur.

That makes Wie, and all the hype around her, look a little bit of an oversell. But, American fans probably didn’t pay any attention to it as her star has faded a bit after a tough year last season. With the wrist and extensive list of excuses, players and fans tired of Wie and the machine around her. Not to fault the young potential star, hopefully this positive showing in Europe will yield to a better summer on the LPGA Tour.
