Boo Weekley didn’t need closing chip-ins to win this year’s Verizon Heritage but one on the 10th hole helped keep his lead over Anthony Kim as Weekley successfully defended his first Tour victory.
A relaxed Weekley soaked in the “Boo” chants as he walked down the 18th fairway with a three-shot lead. He said, “I wanted to do the moonwalk, the belly-roll.” It was a tough day for most behind Weekley as all he needed was an even-par, 72, to notch his second PGA Tour title.
Anthony Kim had a gallery himself but couldn’t catch Weekley. He shot 71 in the final round to finish three-shots back. Aaron Baddeley tied for second with a 69 on Sunday, moving up two shots on the day. Jim Furyk finished fourth after a final round 69 put him four back of Weekley.
