Lorena Ochoa is set to play in her first of eight title defenses at this week’s Safeway International presented by Coca-Cola at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in Superstition Mountain, Arizona.
Ochoa won last year in dramatic fashion, making birdies in four of the last five holes to slip by Suzann Pettersen. This year, she will face one of the best fields of the season as the top 75 golfers in the world are committed to playing this week.
The ladies will play the Prospector Course, the tournament’s home since 2004. A Jack Nicklaus design, with son Gary, the par-72, 7,225 yard course greets players with wide, open fairways before challenging them with lightning fast greens.
